2018년 개관 이후 지소갤러리는 지역인들에게 다양하게 변화되고 있는 공예의 흐름을 접할 수 있는 기회를 제공하는 공예전문 갤러리로 자리잡아 왔다. 트랜드에 부합하는 잠재력 있는 신진작가들을 발굴 및 소개하고, 중견 작가들의 초대전을 통해 공예의 아름다움과 위대함을 보여주기도 한다. 

‘공예’라는 분야가 미술 시장에서 잊혀지지 않게 최대한 많은 작가와 재료를 보여주며 다양화를 통해 광범위하고 변화된 방향성을 보여주기 위해 노력하고 있다. 재료의 선택과 사용의 스펙트럼이 넓어지면서 공예간의 경계가 허물어지기도 하고, 쓰임과는 전혀 다른 장식적인 가치를 부가하는 오브제의 역할을 하기도 하는 ‘공예’분야를 재미난 이야기로 풀어가면서 지역인들이 한층 더 편하게 다가올 수 있는 전시를 지향한다. 

공예에만 국한되지 않고, 현대미술하면 떠오르는 회화, 사진, 설치미술 등 순수미술도 아우르며 작가가 돋보일 수 있는 전시 또한 기획하고 있다. 

2024년 리뉴얼 후 전시공간을 확장하여 기존 아카데미 프로그램을 늘리며 현대미술과 공예의 흐름에 따라 지역 발전과 수준을 높이기 위한 강의, 워크샵, 체험형 수업 등을 운영한다. 1층 전시 공간과 2층 화이트큐브도 작가의 개성과 색깔을 더욱 다양하게 보여줄 수 있게 추가되었고, 다채로운 야외 설치와 이벤트를 위해 2층 테라스 공간도 마련되어 있다. 

아트부산 (Art Busan), 대구아트페어 (DIAF), 부산국제화랑아트페어 (BAMA), 공예트렌드페어 등 주요 국내 아트 페어에 적극적으로 참여하고 있으며, 추후 한국현대미술의 국제무대 진출을 목표하고있다.

Since its opening in 2018, Jiso Gallery has established itself as a craft gallery that provides local people with opportunities to experience the changing flow of crafts. We discover and introduce new artists with potential to meet trends, or invite mid-career artists to show the beauty and greatness of crafts. 

Efforts are being made to show a wide-ranging and changed direction through diversification by showing as many artists and materials as possible so that the field of "craft" will not be forgotten in the art market. We believe that the craft’s developments arguably culminated in major presentations, and can be seen everywhere including fairs, galleries, and even daily lives. 

Our mission is to show that “craft matters” because it is the art world’s best path to diversity, and to plan special exhibitions that highlight the artists and connect craft, design, paintings, photographs, installations and more with interesting stories. 

After the renovation in 2024, the first floor expanded to increase existing academy programs. We offer lectures, workshops, and hands-on classes to raise the level of regional development in line with the flow of modern art and craft in Korea. The front space of the first floor and the white cube on the second floor have also been added to show the artist's color more diversely, and a terrace space on the second floor has also been opened for various outdoor installations and events. We are actively participating in major domestic art fairs such as Art Busan, DIAF, BAMA, and Craft Trend Fair, and aim to advance into the international stage of Korean contemporary art in the future.
